EMEE 2019 – 12th International Workshop on Empirical Methods in Energy Economics

The 12th International Workshop on Empirical Methods in Energy Economics will be held in Québec City at the Hôtel Palace Royal on July 18-19, 2019. The hosting institutions, the Department of Economics at the Université Laval and CREATE, will follow the tradition of successful previous workshops held in Zürich Switzerland (2008), Jasper Canada (2009), Guilford England (2010), Dallas Texas (2011), Berlin Germany (2012), Ottawa Canada (2013), Aachen Germany (2014), College Park Maryland (2015), Oviedo Spain (2016), Los Angeles USA (2017), and Milan Italy (2018). The goal of the workshop is to provide a forum to discuss recent advances and applications in energy economics. Details on previous workshops and information about joining the EMEE network can be found at: http://www.emee.ethz.ch.

The EMEE workshop is designed to be small and collegiate. Young scholars are particularly encouraged to submit a paper and participate. We especially encourage submissions based on novel econometric methods pertaining to the following four broad fields:

  1. Experimental and quasi-experimental design
  2. Time series
  3. Structural econometrics
  4. Machine learning econometrics

The format of the 2019 workshop will be plenary presentations (i.e., no concurrent sessions) followed by short discussions. A poster session will also be organized. Overall, the scientific committee will select approximately 30 papers for short (15 minutes), long (30 minutes), or poster presentations. A keynote speech will also take place.

Keynote Speaker

Prof. Christopher Timmins (Duke University)

Submission and deadlines:

The deadline to submit an extended abstract (maximum 1000 words) is March 29nd, 2019. Decisions will be sent by April 22nd, 2019. Submissions should be done in PDF format and be sent to: emee2019@create.ulaval.ca. In the text of the submission email, please, clearly indicate at least one field among the four listed above that the paper aims to contribute to and the preferred presentation format (i.e., short, long, or poster).
